Reasons for Document Rejection

Guidelines and Common Pitfalls for Document Upload Verification.

To complete the verification process please ensure the documents being uploaded are:

  • Clearly readable
  • Proof of identification is dated and valid
  • Proof of residence is dated from within the last three months.
  • Written in Latin characters
  • An allowed file type (jpeg, jpg, png or pdf)
  • No more than [x]mb
  • The entire document with all 4 corners showing
  • No smaller than [x, y]px and at most [x, y]px

There are easily resolvable reasons why documents are not accepted. Here are some of the most common ones:

It is not an acceptable document type

Check the full list of acceptable documents. Any document that is not on the list will likely be rejected.

The image has been edited

Any edits to an image or document will result in rejection. If there is sensitive information you wish to hide, you can cover it with a different piece of paper, but ensure the important information is not being covered as well!

The document is cropped or doesn’t show all 4 corners

The document must be fully visible and not be cropped, folded or have a large part not showing.

Screenshot or copy

We cannot accept a screenshot or copy of a document. It must be the original file. If you are attempting to use a screenshot of an electronic document, such as an electronic bank statement, you can download and upload the original file instead.

Image quality

The image must be readable. Ensure the camera you are using is up to the task, and there is good lighting. If you can’t read the document from the photo, then our checks likely won’t be able to either!

Hologram on identification

When taking a photo of your ID, the camera can pick up the authenticity hologram found on lots of forms of ID. If this is covering your face or essential information in the photo, then it will likely be rejected.
